Caroline Owen

A native of Atlanta, GA, pianist Caroline Owen is active as a soloist, chamber musician, and collaborator. She has appeared in venues across the United States, Canada, and Europe, including the Wiener Saal and Solitär at the Salzburg Mozarteum, the DiMenna Center for Classical Music, Westhampton Beach Performing Arts Center, and Asia Society Texas Center.


Owen was the winner of the Florida MTNA Young Artist Competition and a semifinalist in both the 14th International Mozart Competition Salzburg and the International Keyboard Odyssiad.

She is also a past winner of the Pro-Mozart Society of Atlanta Competition, from which she received a scholarship to study at the Salzburg Mozarteum with Dominique Merlet and Christopher Hinterhuber.

 

Her festival appearances include the American Liszt Society Festival, Cremona Summer Festival, PianoFest in the Hamptons, PianoTexas, Atlantic Music Festival, and the Prague Piano Festival. She has performed with the Northwest Florida Symphony Orchestra, Furman University Symphony Orchestra, and the Orlando Contemporary Chamber Orchestra, with whom she premiered new piano concerti by composers Jamie Wehr and Donald Yu. She has also worked with distinguished artists and teachers including Jean-Efflam Bavouzet, Richard Goode, Jerome Lowenthal, Ursula Oppens, and Paul Schenly.

 

Highlights of Owen’s 2026–2027 season include solo performances with the Blue Ridge Symphony and Third Angle New Music, as well as collaborations with pianist David Kalhous, composer Badie Khaleghian, and soprano Bethany Mamola. 

 

Drawing on her background in dance, Owen maintains a strong interest in interdisciplinary projects, particularly through her ongoing collaborations with Khaleghian. Their work together includes a residency at the Avaloch Farm Music Institute and performances of their multimedia work Electric Sky Blue (2022), which has been presented at the Seoul International Computer Music Festival, SEAMUS, Atemporánea Festival in Argentina, the Ammerman Center for Arts & Technology Biennial Symposium, TurnUp Multimedia Festival, Bowdoin College, Florida State University, Rice University, and Wilfrid Laurier University.

 

Since Fall 2022, Owen has also toured with the Astralis Chamber Ensemble, a dynamic ensemble dedicated to supporting new music and engaging communities of all backgrounds through music. With Astralis, she has appeared on series such as Chamber Music Raleigh and the Artist Series of Tallahassee, as well as at Stetson University, Bethune-Cookman University, and others.

 

Owen earned her Doctor of Music degree in piano performance from Florida State University, where she studied with David Kalhous. She also holds degrees from the University of Georgia and Furman University. Based in Atlanta, she currently serves as an Artist Affiliate at Emory University and as Co-Director and Co-Founder of the Decatur Fine Arts Academy. She also served as part-time faculty at the University of Georgia during the 2024–2025 academic year.
